About the Shop
The Confluence Souvenir Shop is a curated collection of locally made products that celebrate Castlegar and the West Kootenays. Every item you find here was created by a maker who lives and works in this region, someone who knows these mountains, these rivers, and this community.
This is a souvenir shop, not a general gift shop. That distinction matters to us. We exist to connect visitors with the people and places that make this corner of BC so special, and to give you something meaningful to take home a piece of this place, made by the hands of the people who call it home.
The shop is located inside The Confluence building at 1995 6th Ave, Castlegar. Open during Visitor Centre hours.

Meet Our Makers

Bogi - Touch of the Kootenays
"I'm inspired by the mountains, lakes, forests, and the amazing people who live here. I love turning the places we all know and love into designs that people are proud to wear."
Bogi is a Castlegar mom and maker who designs Kootenay-inspired apparel and custom merchandise from her home studio. Every piece is made with care for the community she loves.

Shelly - Grain & Slate Co.
Shelly is the creator and maker behind Grain & Slate Co. Inspired by the mountains, forests, and abundant wildlife of the Kootenays, she crafts laser-engraved gifts designed to celebrate life’s meaningful moments.
Driven by a passion for creating timeless keepsakes, Shelly thoughtfully designs and laser-engraves every piece in-house. Her products are crafted with care to bring warmth, beauty, and lasting memories into every home.

Melissa and Ghislain - Woodland Hillside

Trail BC.
Woodland Hillside is husband and wife team. Melissa and Ghislain live and work in Trail BC. They utilize rescued wood that comes from local dead standing, fallen, and danger trees. They strive to design quality products that have a low environmental impact. Woodland Hillside was started out of a desire to help the natural world and local forests thrive. They create everything from keychains to live edge furniture.
Spending time outdoors is an essential part of our lives. Many of their graphics are created from photographs they took out in nature.
For owners Melissa and Ghislain, hiking in the Kootenay forests brings them inspiration and motivation to work with rescued wood. Developing a business that helps forests thrive was a dream come true!

Diana - Zoowhimsical
Diana is the biologist and artist behind ZooWhimsical, creating hand-crafted nature-inspired pieces that celebrate the biodiversity of the Kootenay region.
Her work is rooted in a simple belief: we can't protect what we don't love, and we can't love what we don't know. Drawing on her background in biology, Diana blends real ecological knowledge with craft, hoping each piece sparks a little curiosity, and a little pride, about the wild neighbours we share this valley with.

Consign With Us
Are you a Kootenay maker? We'd love to have your work on our shelves.
The Confluence Souvenir Shop is a consignment space built around one simple idea: when visitors take something home, it should carry a real story, someone who lives here, who knows these mountains, and made this with their own hands.
We're always looking for makers based in the West Kootenays working in apparel, home goods, keychains and accessories, pins and jewellery, and art and stationery.
One requirement matters most:

Every product must clearly reference Castlegar, the Kootenays, Hwy 3, BC, or Canada, whether that's in the design, the wording, or the imagery. This is a souvenir shop first, so place matters more than anything else. Are you a Kootenay maker? We'd love to have your work on our shelves.
