The Castlegar and District Chamber of Commerce has received another $200,000 in grant funding for The Confluence.

The Confluence is a $6.7 million, 7000-sq.ft. building under construction at 1995 6th Ave. It will host the Chamber of Commerce, the Visitor Centre, Economic Development office, a satellite branch of Community Futures, Destination Castlegar, a board room and community-use spaces.

The project has received millions in funding including almost $3 million from the province, $1.4 million from the federal government and $200,000 from Destination BC.

The latest funding comes from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund and Tourism Relief Fund and is specifically targeted for the visitor’s centre portion of the building.

The chamber’s executive director, Tammy Verigin-Burk, says that $1.7 million is still needed to fully pay for the project.

Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2024, with tenants moving in shortly thereafter.

The CDCOC is non-profit organization that operates independently from the City of Castlegar.
